Month in ReviewThe story of this month, grounded in the data

August 2026 was a strong month for Onboard on Amazon. Revenue grew 12.9% month-over-month to $27,966.11, driven by the canned tuna and salad lines, which together carried 86% of revenue. Net profit reached $1,840.39, up 61.7% from July, with TACoS improved to 14.56% from 15.06%. Organic revenue grew 24.0% to $14,703.91 and passed half of total revenue for the first time in the trailing window.

The primary challenge was the Tuna Fillets line, and the Tuna Pouches launch still ahead. Fillets returned -$509.45 on $3,477.24 of sales at a -14.65% margin, against $64 of profit in July; the line is being held rather than cut and is expected to recover gradually. Tuna Pouches have carried no advertising at all and still converted 8.20% of their sessions at break-even, and paid support for that line begins this month. Another month at August's rate clears the $30,000 milestone.

▲ WHAT DROVE GROWTH
Organic revenue, not advertising.
Organic sales rose 24.0% to $14,703.91 while ad spend rose only 9.2%. TACoS fell 0.50 points to 14.56%, comfortably the best of the trailing four months. Sessions grew 35.8% to 14,299, driven by the salad line. The canned tuna parent produced $1,266.39 of profit on $14,487.60 and the salad parent $1,257.60 on $9,494.90; between them they carried the entire account. Subscribe and Save reached 373 active subscribers, up 147 on a year ago.
▼ WHAT HELD THE MONTH BACK
Fillets lost money and conversion fell as traffic grew.
Tuna Fillets returned -$509.45 on $3,477.24, a -14.65% margin, absorbing $758.23 of advertising for 77 units. Tuna Bites lost $83.99 on $294.41. Account conversion fell from 6.03% to 5.23% because session growth outpaced order growth: sessions rose 35.8% against 17.0% more orders. AOV slipped 3.5% to $40.24 as the mix moved toward lower-priced salad units.
▶ WHAT TO WATCH IN SEPTEMBER
Salad conversion, the pouch launch, and whether $30K is in reach.
The salad line now takes 67% of account sessions and converts at 3.25%, against 11.49% on cans. Closing even half that gap would add meaningful revenue with no extra ad spend, which makes listing conversion work on the salad detail pages the highest-return task available. Advertising support for the Tuna Pouches line starts this month, the first paid push that line has had; at 8.20% conversion on no spend it is the cleanest test in the catalogue of whether traffic is the constraint. On current trajectory the $30,000 monthly milestone lands in September or October. Inventory is not a constraint: only the Italian Salad sits under 30 days of supply and it has 336 units inbound.

Cost WaterfallHow gross sales flow down to net profit
Cost of goods held at 36.2% of sales against 36.1% in July, so the extra volume came through at essentially unchanged unit economics. Amazon fees rose to $10,767.39 but fell as a share of revenue, from 40.1% to 38.5%. Advertising is the line that improved most in proportional terms: $4,070.74 is 14.6% of sales against 15.1% in July. Promotional spend of $705.90 confirms August carried no material Vine giveaway, unlike June. Refund cost of $457.19 on 16 refunds is 1.63% of sales, unusually low for grocery. The waterfall balances to the cent with no plug row.

Advertising IntelligencePPC portfolio breakdown and channel attribution
Advertising did its job quietly this month. Spend rose 9.2% to $4,070.74 and returned $13,262.20, up 2.7%, at a blended 30.69% ACoS against 28.88% in July. ACoS widened 1.81 points and ROAS eased from 3.46 to 3.26, but the number that matters at account level moved the right way: TACoS fell from 15.06% to 14.56%, because total revenue grew faster than ad spend. Four portfolios carried spend. Tuna Salad ran cleanest at 29.01% and Unassigned widest at 36.20%. The Tuna Salad portfolio is the standout improvement, cutting ACoS from 36.80% to 29.01% while lifting ad sales 44%. Tuna Fillets moved the other way, from 25.47% to 34.79% on 14% more spend and 16% less ad revenue.

Organic revenue grew 24.0% to $14,703.91 and organic share passed half of revenue for the first time in the window, 52.6% against 47.9%. Sessions grew 35.8% while ad clicks grew 10.0%, so the extra traffic was largely unpaid. Conversion is the caveat: unit session percentage fell from 6.03% to 5.23%.

Compounding
Subscribe and Save remains the account's compounding asset and it is now large enough to matter to the profit line. 373 active subscriptions at the end of August, up 4 on July's 369 and up 65.0% on the 226 a year ago. Subscribe and Save generated $5,149.49 of revenue in August, 18.41% of total sales, with a further $12,084.68 from reorders, so 61.63% of the month's revenue came from customers buying again rather than buying for the first time. That is an unusually durable base for a grocery catalogue at this scale. Amazon's forward projection across active offers plans 148 subscriber units over the next 30 days and 567 over 90 days. The Premium Canned Tuna line alone carries 150 subscriptions, and the three salad varieties together carry 139.

Healthy
Inventory is not a constraint this month, which is worth stating plainly because it has been on other accounts. Only 2 SKUs sit under 30 days of supply and only one of them matters: the Italian Tuna Salad (500016) at 26.2 days on 5.03 units per day, the fastest-moving SKU in the catalogue after the canned tuna hero. It has 336 units inbound, comfortably ahead of the run rate. The other sub-30 line is a Tuna Bites single pack moving 0.01 units per day, a rounding error in demand terms. The hero SKU 500001 holds 493 units at 60.3 days with 174 more inbound. 836 units are inbound across the catalogue. FBA units include on-hand plus Reserved per the standing rule.

Action PlanPrioritized next steps for the coming month
HIGH

Keep the momentum and clear $30,000

August closed at $27,966.11, up 12.9% on July, the third consecutive profitable month. Another month at that rate clears $30,000. Cans and salads are both moving and neither needs new spend to hold pace, so September is about protecting what is already working rather than adding to it.

▶ Brand Team
HIGH

Improve ad efficiency on Tuna Fillets

Fillets returned -$509.45 on $3,477.24 of sales, a -14.65% margin, against $64 of profit in July. Portfolio ACoS widened from 25.47% to 34.79% on 14% more spend. Bring spend back to a defensive level and work the targeting; the line is being held rather than cut, so expect gradual recovery rather than a fast turn.

▶ PPC Team
HIGH

Launch the Tuna Pouches advertising

Pouches have never carried advertising and still grew to $251.95 in August, converting 8.20% of 61 sessions against an account average of 5.23%. Record the pre-launch baseline first so the campaign effect can be isolated in September, and set the opening budget against the line's own scale rather than the account's.

▶ PPC Team + Brand Team
MEDIUM

Confirm COGS for Sardines in Cans and move the launch forward

The launch needs a confirmed landed cost of goods before pricing and margin can be set. Close that off and the remaining launch steps can run on real figures rather than estimates.
